Kansas State Capitol
Topeka's capitol dome is crowned by "Ad Astra," a bronze Kansa warrior firing an arrow toward the North Star.
Why it matters
The state motto is "Ad Astra per Aspera" — to the stars through difficulty. It's literally on the roof.
